Experience
I'm currently employed as an Apple Mac operator / DeskTop Publishing artist in the graphics department for a local newspaper publisher:
- Designing adverts for publication in printed media. Using amongst other software, Adobe Photoshop CS3, Adobe Illustrator CS3 and Adobe InDesign CS3 on both PC and Apple Mac computers.
I've previously worked as the senior website designer at Tradeweb Solutions in Derby with responsibilities for:
- Providing website concept designs based off a client's company branding and literature. Liaising with clients to progress these designs through the various design, coding, content and proofing stages until their website goes live.
- Designing and coding eMail Newsletters, eMail stationery for Microsoft Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird eMail clients and banner adverts.
- Designing and coding blog templates for the Wordpress Content Management System (CMS).
- Designing printed literature (adverts, product information sheets etc.) that conform to and enhances Tradeweb's corporate branding.
- Writing product and user manuals for clients.
Whilst working as a Content Developer within the Technical Team for Associated Northcliffe Digital (AND) my duties and responsibilities included:
- Maintaining, updating and designing commercial website content across many of their numerous regional newspaper websites.
- Designing and coding new websites and microsites to support newspaper promotional features.
- Designing page templates for the Kentico Content Management System (CMS) and helping in the migration of current data across to new websites.
- Finally, to provide technical support and help liaise with each newspaper's online media representatives and other outside clients to find solutions that best transfer their original printed newspaper content to an online format.
In a previous position within the same company my duties included:
- Designing and programming (XHTML/CSS) webpage content and day to day maintenance for two of their regional newspaper websites.
- Designing online promotional eMails as well as the concept, design and programming of any supporting microsites the newspapers may require.
- Liaising with editors, journalists and promotions staff from numerous newspapers to transfer their designs from print to an interactive online medium and provide online copy writing and proofreading of the content.
- Utilised RSS, blogging and podcasting technology to help promote online multimedia content.
- Bulletin Board administrator and moderator for a Championship League football club.
- Customer support via telephone and email.
I also have 18 months' managerial experience and have been project manager for numerous web based projects.
Finally I'm proficient with using various methods of online data research and retrieval e.g. internet search engines, online encyclopedias, news aggregators, RSS clients and with numerous web browsers including Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Maxthon and Apple Safari etc.
